Week 11: Focus & Delegation

Q: How do I multiply my impact?Exodus 18:13-26
What Your Student Learned

We looked at Moses and Jethro to understand that trying to do everything leads to burnout. Leaders delegate. They focus on what only they can do and empower others to do the rest. This multiplies impact.

Why This Matters

Many responsible teens fall into the trap of "if I want it done right, I'll do it myself." This limits their leadership. Learning to ask for help and trust others is a key step in moving from a "doer" to a "leader."

This Week's Challenge

The Focus List: Students identified their top 3 priorities and blocked time for them first. They also identified one task to delegate or eliminate.

Parent Tip: Ask, "What are your top 3 rocks this week?" Help them protect that time.

Parent Reflection

Do I micromanage my kids, or do I delegate responsibility to them (chores, decisions) and let them learn?

Conversation Starters
  • What is something you do that you really should let someone else handle?
  • How does it feel when someone trusts you with a big responsibility?
  • What are the unique gifts God gave you that you should focus on?
Family Activity (20 min)

The Chore Draft: Re-evaluate household responsibilities. Is mom/dad doing things teens could do? Have a "draft" where family members pick responsibilities that match their strengths/schedule. Empower them to "own" that area.

Prayer Focus
Pray for stewardship of gifts (1 Peter 4:10). Ask God to help them work as a team member, not a solo hero.
Watch For & Affirm

Notice teamwork. "It was great how you asked your brother to help you with that project instead of stressing out alone."
